In May 2009 we traveled to the United Arab Emirates. This was a small delegation of Town Councillors and a local journalist on a study tour. Our aim was to gather as much information as we could from people in Dubai with economic development experience in a similar environment to our own.
We contacted the WA Government Trade office in Dubai to link to appropriate people to meet locally. We wanted to investigate the viability of similar Dubai developments for Port Hedland, namely infrastructure development and how the use of tax incentives has played a significant role in attracting new business and encouraging economic development in their region.
