Pathways to Growth

New Industries to future-proof Port Hedland.

The first step is the preparation of robust presentations for potential investors. These presentations need to provide key information about the wealth of potential Port Hedland has to offer new industry in order to promote and attract appropriate investment.

We aim to engage experienced consultant partners for this process to ensure these are presented professionally with investment return potentials well detailed.

Strategy for a resilient Port Hedland, now and in the future.

Port Hedland is facing a number of challenges and opportunities. Some of the challenges include; the concentration of the income base for the town and for the Shire, the impact of the boom/bust cycle, the normalisation of the town, the population growth, economic development, housing affordability, land use and a range of other issues.

The PHCPA and its community partners are actively looking at ways of solving some of these issues and taking Port Hedland to the next level. Some of these ideas are well progressed and include the idea of a tax free zone, local economic development and population initiatives.

Todd Davies & Associates suggested the PHCPA engage a strategic planning exercise which addresses the complexity of the issues in the town and works in harmony with the specific context of our specific situation – in other words a strategy for a resilient Port Hedland, now and in the future.

Todd Davies & Associates (TDA) works to bring together the right teams of specialists for each project.  The team assembled for this project are all founding members of the Resilient Futures Network (RFN) - a “think, link and do tank” which focuses assisting organisations, communities and individuals to thrive and prosper in the long term, in the face of changing conditions.

RFN draws experts together from a range of disciplines including strategy, economic development, urban economics, community planning and financial management. More information on RFN can be found at

Todd Davies & Associates are specialists in strategy, governance and step change and were engaged by PHCPA to suggest a strategic pathway for this project and outcomes.

The status of this project is ‘live’, funding for this preliminary stage has been sought and is work in progress.
